JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for the operation of diagnostic ultrasound equipment for the performance of all dynamic ultrasound procedures at a technical level not requiring direct supervision. Possess a positive and courteous attitude, and take the initative to go beyond what is expected in a teamwork environment.Must be able to be ON CALL when required of him/her.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Identifies each patient, reviews each patient's chart and previous examinations for consistency (examination
   ordered/clinical diagnosis), and records pertinent data at all times.
2. Reviews each examination for technical accuracy, presents completed examination to radiologist, and
   communicates pertinent data to persons responsible for the care of the patient following the procedure.
3. Identifies anatomical orientation on all required images, and ensures proper film identification on all images.
4. Must fill out proper study forms for each case.

Education:

1. Graduate of a recognized, approved American Medical Association Council of Education program in radiologic technology; associate's degree preferred.
2. A minimum of two to three years of experience in an acute care environment is required.

Licensure:

1. Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists; Certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography or registry eligible.
2. BLS Required

Skills: 

1. Knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
2. Ability to recognize subtle differences between healthy and pathological areas.
