What are we looking for in a Clinical Informaticist? Focuses on the effective use of information technology (IT) to improve patient care, enhance the efficiency of healthcare providers, and ensure optimal utilization of healthcare resources. Bridges the gap between clinical staff and IT professionals, ensuring the seamless integration of electronic health records (EHR), clinical decision support systems (CDSS) and other healthcare technologies into daily practice. Assesses and recommends clinical workflows within existing EHR application and practice management systems. Evaluates new technologies and determines when a new EHR is needed to support our strategy of scalability, sustainability, and community impact. The schedule for this role will be Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm.
Clinical Informaticist Duties May Include - Integrating and implementing new technologies in the clinical environment. Bridging the gap between healthcare and technology, ensuring that clinical informatics systems are designed, implemented, and utilized to improve client care, enhance workflows, and promote data-driven decision-making
- Collaborating with healthcare professionals, the Information Systems team, and vendors to streamline processes, integrate new technologies, and enhance client outcomes
- Developing and implementing informatics strategies to enhance clinical workflows, data accuracy, and client safety.
- Overseeing the deployment and maintenance of EHR, CDSS, and other clinical systems to ensure they meet the needs of healthcare providers and patients.
- Analyzing clinical data to identify trends, measure outcomes, and generate reports that support decision-making processes
- Providing technical training and support to clinical staff on the use of health information systems and technologies to ensure they are effectively utilized.
- Conducting and participating in testing existing technologies, upgrades and the piloting of new solutions. Continuously monitoring and evaluating the performance of clinical informatics systems, identifying and resolving issues promptly.
- Providing recommendations for continuous improvement and change management, leveraging data, analytics and operational workflows.
- Maintaining a current working knowledge of healthcare regulations, standards, and best practices to ensure health information systems comply with regulatory requirements and that patient data is securely managed and protected.
- Facilitating the integration of various health information systems to ensure interoperability and seamless sharing of patient data across different platforms.
- Integrating healthcare IT systems, enhancing data management and clinical workflows.
- Managing all clinical application releases and upgrades, assesses changes, tests with stakeholder groups to determine impacts, and trains on those changes.
- Training new employees and creating tailored training for all SmartCare and clinical application workflows.
- Supporting the strategic vision of developing and implementing a model of whole-person care to meet individual, family, community, and population-specific needs to improve overall health (i.e., CCBHC).
- Optimizing clinical workflows.
- Collaborating with applications support team and subject matter experts to test and validate EHR monthly service packs and new version releases to keep key applications current, allow for timelier utilization of new features, and mitigate system breaks (i.e., A/R and billing issues).
- Providing effective training for IS tools and supports CCBHC initiatives.
Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in health informatics, nursing, healthcare administration, information technology, or related field and six years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Previous experience with healthcare informatics or related roles and a strong knowledge of clinical workflows, EHR systems and healthcare information technology.
