Located conveniently in Augusta's downtown medical community, Georgia War Veterans Nursing Home provides continuous professional nursing care to veterans of Georgia who have served in the armed forces during war times. The home is owned and funded by the Georgia Department of Veterans Service and operated through an interagency agreement with Augusta University. Through this association, Georgia War Veterans Nursing Home is considered a leader in the area of geriatric educational training for Augusta University.
Job Summary
The Staff Nurse (Part Time) possesses knowledge regarding State, Federal, VA and The Joint Commission guidelines governing long term care. This person is responsible for supervising employees in all nursing units. The person in this role ensures that individualized quality patient care is provided for all patients and serves as the supervisor for the facility.
ResponsibilitiesThe duties include, but are not limited to:PATIENT CARE: Assists other nursing personnel in the administration of total resident care and serves as Charge Nurse or Medication Nurse for the nursing unit as assigned. Serve as Supervisor for the facility as needed. Provides support to nursing units/staff throughout the facility. Assess residents as needed and contact Physicians, as needed.PROBLEM SOLVING: Participate in problem-solving affecting the care of residents with complex needs by assisting in the development of individualized resident care plans. Assess progress made toward objective goals.RESOURCES: Provides direction and guidance in the proper use, care, and control of material resourcesEMERGENCIES: Responds to emergency situations by initiating emergency procedures and documenting proper records of emergency care.POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: Assists in the development and implementation of policies and procedures designed to affect the efficiency of Nursing Service operationsPROFESSIONALISM: Maintains a professional manner at all times with residents, visitors, and staff. Reports interpersonal problems to Nurse Manager and Supervisors as necessary.
OTHER DUTIES: Perform other. related duties as assigned
Required QualificationsGraduation from an accredited college or university with a degree in Nursing and experience in the care of Geriatric patients in a long term care environment; Current, active licensure in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Georgia; Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS/BCLS certificationPreferred QualificationsExperience in the care of geriatric residents, preferably in long-term care.Knowledge, Skills, & AbilitiesKNOWLEDGE
