The Opportunity:
The Records and Evidence Unit plays an integral role in the operation of the UCF Police Department by providing a variety of services to the community, professional staff members and sworn officers. Records Specialists are often the first Police Department employee members of the University community encounter when they visit our department. They provide customer service to the public, partner agencies, and police officers through the coordination, research, and dissemination of information in accordance with the law. Other duties include greeting visitors, processing police reports and property, fingerprinting, and identity verification.
Responsibilities:
Greets visitors and refers them to the correct entity or the proper agency official.
Verifies building access and signs people in when needed, as well as provides escorts for those without access.
Accepts and processes legal documentation, e.g., sworn statements, subpoenas, case dispositions, and seal/expunge orders.
Provides general office support (e.g. answers phones, fax, scan, copy, filing etc.), customer service, receive payments for services, audit petty cash and release deposits.
Searches computer files and provides reports in response to requests made to the agency.
Responsible for the processing of daily paperwork and data entry.
Enters data/information and documents into the records management system and verifies input for accuracy (e.g. traffic citations/warnings, accident reports, trespass warnings, medical responses, disposition sheets, and death notifications).
Responsible for fingerprinting customers and providing notary services.
Receive, inventory, document, properly store and return found property when applicable using proper department procedures.
Performs special projects, other administrative functions and related work as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or Equivalent and 2+ years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. Click here for more information.
Preferred Qualifications:
2+ years of experience in records management, administrative support, or a related field.
Experience with data entry and verification for accuracy, with strong attention to detail.
Proven experience handling confidential and sensitive information with discretion and integrity.
Basic knowledge of Florida public records laws.
Demonstrated professional customer service experience and interpersonal communication skills.
Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, and Teams with the ability to train on and learn new computerized systems.

The anticipated hourly range for this position is $17.64 to $19.63. The final hourly rate will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, and internal equity considerations.
A background investigation will be conducted on the selected applicant. Testing may include but will not be limited to Voice Stress Analysis, drug screening, physical exam, and psychological exam.
