Are you interested in serving as a tutor for the UAA Department of Languages? In collaboration with the UAA Learning Commons, applications are being accepted for Tutors to serve the Languages Department each semester (Fall and Spring) to assist students in their studies of American Sign Language, Alaska Native languages, Chinese, French, German, Japanese, Russian, and Spanish.
Successful applicants for this position will be placed into a hiring pool for the academic year 2025-26 from which tutors will be hired each semester according to the needs of that semester's schedule.
Applicants must be enrolled as UA student taking a minimum of 6 credits per semester with GPA of 2.0 or a newly enrolled student.
Successful pool applicants must demonstrate proficiency in the target language and the ability to explain grammatical concepts and provide conversational practice at a level deemed sufficient by the language section or tutor coordinator.
Attention to detail and timeliness in completion of assigned tasks. Requires effective and timely communication skills.Previous experience teaching or tutoring and native or near-native language proficiency or study-abroad experience are preferred.

This position is located at the University of Alaska campus in Anchorage.
This is a part time, non-exempt Student Assistant 2 position with an hourly rate of $15.26.
