Job Summary
The Instructional Designer develops engaging, accessible eLearning content to support nursing homes, skilled nursing facilities (SNFs), hospice, and home health agencies in improving quality of care and maintaining compliance with CMS and state regulations. This role collaborates with subject matter experts (SMEs), quality consultants, and project teams to create training modules focused on regulatory standards, clinical practices, and operational performance. The ideal candidate combines instructional design expertise with a strong understanding of adult learning principles, healthcare environments, and the unique challenges faced by long-term and post-acute care organizations..
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct needs assessments and learning analyses to identify gaps and opportunities in clinical, operational, and regulatory education.
- Design and develop instructor-led, virtual, and e-learning training programs using instructional design models (e.g., ADDIE, SAM).
- Collaborate with clinical SMEs to translate complex healthcare information into accessible and actionable learning for adult learners.
- Create materials including storyboards, facilitator guides, participant workbooks, assessments, job aids, and multimedia content.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards (e.g., CMS, Joint Commission, HIPAA) in all educational materials.
- Leverage learning technologies such as Learning Management Systems (LMS), SCORM-compliant modules, and video platforms to deploy and track training.
- Evaluate training effectiveness through learner feedback, assessment outcomes, and performance improvement metrics.
- Maintain version control and update learning materials in response to regulatory changes, audit findings, or client feedback.
- Assist in the creation of proposals and client-specific educational strategies for consulting engagements.
- Design and deliver tailored learning solutions (classroom, virtual, e-Learning, and blended.)
- Facilitate workshops, leadership development programs, and team-building sessions.

Education, Experience, & Licensing Requirements
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, Healthcare Administration, Nursing, or related field. Master's degree preferred.
- 3+ years of instructional design experience in a healthcare or healthcare consulting environment.
Experience
- Clinical background (e.g., RN, LPN, or similar) or experience developing clinical training.
- Experience designing education for nursing homes, skilled nursing facilities, or home health agencies.
- Familiarity with quality improvement frameworks such as QAPI, Lean, or Six Sigma.
- Demonstrated experience with adult learning principles and healthcare compliance training.
Technical Skills
- Expert-level computer skills , including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), cloud-based collaboration tools (e.g., SharePoint, Teams), and strong ability to learn and use various digital platforms.
- Proficiency in eLearning authoring tools (Articulate 360, Rise, Camtasia, Adobe Captivate, etc.).
- Experience working with LMS platforms and SCORM/xAPI standards.
Travel Requirements
- Employee will work remotely from a home-based office. Travel is not routinely expected but may be required occasionally for client engagements, team meetings, or special projects..
