Job Title: EKG Technician (Monitor Tech)
Location: Jamaica, NY
Duration: 3+ Months (with potential for extension)
Shift: 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM EST (Rotating weekends required)
Pay Rate: $24 - $26/hour
Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Monitor Technician (EKG Tech) to join our healthcare team in a fast-paced, acute care environment. The ideal candidate will have experience interpreting cardiac rhythms using telemetry and EKG equipment, with a strong ability to support clinical teams through accurate and timely monitoring.
Key Responsibilities:
Monitor and analyze cardiac rhythms continuously via telemetry systems
Identify and report abnormal heart rhythms to clinical staff
Perform and document electrocardiograms (EKGs) accurately
Maintain and troubleshoot EKG and telemetry equipment to ensure operational readiness
Accurately document and update patient cardiac data in medical records
Collaborate with nursing and physician teams to support ongoing patient care
Participate in interdisciplinary care discussions regarding telemetry data
Ensure compliance with safety and cleanliness standards within the monitoring area
Assist with patient mobility and transport occasionally, as needed
Requirements:
Minimum 1 year of acute care experience
Proficiency in monitoring vital signs and interpreting telemetry rhythms
Ability to work overnight shifts and rotating weekends
Strong attention to detail and critical thinking skills
Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
Education:
High School Diploma or GED required
