Job Description

Construction Senior Accountant - Denver, CO (in-office)

Pay rate: $42-50/hr. DOE

Responsibilities:

  • Drive the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting
  • Review and correct balance sheet reconciliations and profit and loss statements
  • Analyze job-level and business-level financial performance
  • Provide commentary on trends, variances, and profitability to support strategic decision-making
  • Prepare complex journal entries, including those related to payroll, amortization, accruals, allocations, and intercompany activity
  • Perform bank and credit card reconciliations
  • Support cost accounting efforts to ensure job costing and margins are accurate
  • Partner with operational leaders, project managers, and other departments to resolve financial challenges and support business goals
  • Assist in developing and maintaining internal controls, accounting procedures, and policy documentation
  • Research and interpret complex accounting issues and provide actionable recommendations to leadership
  • Lead special projects to improve financial processes and reporting systems
  • Record payroll-related journal entries
  • Support preparation of schedules for tax filings and audits

Systems:

  • QuickBooks and advanced Excel functions (including PivotTables, XLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, SUMIF, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • CPA or progress toward CPA preferred
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within the construction, contracting, or remodeling sectors
