The Center for Student Success & First-Year Experience (CSSFYE) is a multifaceted, student services operation that is dedicated to supporting University of Mississippi students. The Academic Advising unit within the CSSFYE provides holistic support to students served. Academic Advisors guide students regarding curriculum, policies, resources, etc. Examples of work include: 1:1 academic advising, teaching a first-year experience course, supporting all retention initiatives, etc.

Advises students on academic matters, such as course selection and degree requirements, while maintaining appropriate confidentiality to ensure students reach academic, personal, and professional success.
In a typical day an Academic Advisor I would meet with students to discuss grades, degree plans, resources, etc., teach a course, attend various meetings, and communicate with students, parents, and campus partners.
These essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following. Additional essential functions may be identified and included by the hiring department.
1. Receives, processes and responds to academic inquiries according to established policies and procedures.
2.Serves as a main point of contact for students providing basic organizational information about educational options, academic requirements and institutional resources and addressing their needs.
3.Counsels students in identifying and assessing their interests, skills and values to match appropriate fields of study and career options and refers students to appropriate institutional resources.
4. Maintains confidentiality and accurate student records according to program policies.

An equivalent combination of related experience and education may be considered for this role. Substitutions of the required experience or education will be assessed on a 1:1 substitution basis.
Masters Degree preferred
